UWaterloo: Generalist (tenure track)

Applications are invited for a tenure-track position at the Assistant
Professor level in Classical Studies, beginning on or after January 1, 2005
(start date is negotiable). The successful candidate will have a PhD in
Classical Studies in hand or close to completion, and an ability to teach a
variety of courses in classical civilizations and languages, and in
particular, art and archaeology. Applicants should also have the ability to
apply computer-related technology to teaching and research. Salary is
commensurate with qualifications and experience. Consideration of

UChicago: Latinist (two year +)

The Classics Department of the University of Chicago invites
applications for a two-year position (with a possibility of renewal)
as Lecturer in Latin Literature.  We seek candidates who have written
on Latin poetry or prose prior to 200 CE. The teaching load totals 4
ten-week courses over 3 quarters and includes Latin courses at both
the undergraduate and graduate level and humanities courses.  The
Ph.D. degree must be in hand by September 1, 2004.

McMaster: Generalist (one year)

The Department of Classics at McMaster University invites applications for a
12-month contractually limited appointment in the area of Greek, Latin, and
Classical Civilization at the Assistant Professor level to commence July 1,
2004. The salary floor at the rank of Assistant Professor as of July 1, 2004
will be  $49,861.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Classics or near completion
with teaching experience in relevant courses. The successful candidate will
be expected to teach 6 three-unit undergraduate courses in Greek, Latin, and
Classical Civilization.

UChicago: Hellenist (one year)

The Classics Department at the University of Chicago invites applications for a one-year position as Lecturer in ancient Greek literature. Preference will be given to applicants with a special interest in the political, social, or cultural aspects of the literature of the classical period. The teaching load totals four 10-week courses over three quarters and includes at least one course in translation. Candidates must provide evidence of success as a teacher. Skidmore: Generalist (one year)

The Classics Department at Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, New
York, invites applications for a full-time, one-year sabbatical
replacement in Latin language and literature for the 2004-05 academic
year.  Candidate should be able to teach courses in Latin, as well as
Greek, at all levels, and courses in classical civilization and
classical literature in translation in Skidmore's interdisciplinary
Classics Department.

Candidates should demonstrate teaching excellence and versatility and
be firmly committed to undergraduate education with a commitment to
student learning within a liberal arts environment.  PhD preferred, or
