Neven Leddy (Oxford) 'Smith on Epicurus and Smith as Epicurean'
Catherine Wilson (CUNY) 'Epicureanism in the late 17th century: an overview'
John Robertson (Oxford) will chair a roundtable discussion
This will be the first of three workshops on the place of the ethical thought of the ancient schools in the moral philosophy of the Scottish Enlightenment. A second meeting on Stoicism will be held on February 23rd 2008 , and a third on Platonism and Aristotelianism in early summer 2008.
