non-tenure track Latin instructor to begin August 16, 2007. Two-year contract
with possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance and the
availability of funding. M.A., ABD, or Ph.D. preferred. In response to rapid
and unprecedented growth in the number of students attending the university,
we are developing an aggressive and innovative strategy for accommodating more
students in lower-level Latin courses. Our goal is to combine classroom
instruction with computer-based instruction in a unique way that will both
improve learning outcomes and reach a larger audience. The new instructor
will work with Classics faculty members, other instructors, and technology
experts on campus to spearhead the development of the new program. Therefore,
the successful candidate will have appropriate facility in the use of computer
technology. Additional summer stipend is possible during the implementation
phase of the project. Applications will be considered beginning June 15, 2007
until position is filled. Send vita, three letters of recommendation, and
dossier to Dr. Kirk Summers, Latin Search Committee, Department of Modern
Languages and Classics, The University of Alabama, Box 870246, Tuscaloosa, AL
35487-0246. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. The University of
Alabama is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
